The Buckskin Sanitary District is a governmental entity separate from the Town of Parker and La Paz County. The District’s sole purpose is to collect, treat, and dispose of wastewater and its byproducts within the District boundaries located along the Parker Strip on the Colorado River. The District operates in accordance with Title 48 of the Arizona Revised Statutes and is governed by an elected
five-person board of directors. Daily operation of the District is overseen by the District Manager, Douglas Konkright.
The District was established in 1985 and purchased an existing wastewater treatment facility from Sandpiper Resorts which was currently serving the Sandpiper Condominiums and proposed housing in Miraleste Shores. Buckskin Sanitary constructed its first conveyance system in 2000 providing service from the Buckskin Fire Department to the Casas Del Rio Condominiums. The District is preparing for the 2nd and 3rd phases of the sewer expansion which will provide sewer services from Lower Moovalya Estates to the eastern District boundaries of Marina View Estates and Lower Marina Manor. The District is also currently preparing a Master Sewer Plan which will encumber all properties within the District Boundaries up to the Parker Dam.
